My brother named his daughter "Niamh". When he told me I thought he was naming he "Neeve".
I was tempted to try to knock some sense into him, but he's a bit bigger than me.
Obviously there'll be absolutely NO confusion regarding her name in later life.

The letter B is pronounced in the same way by most languages.
Most Germanic (apart from English) and Slavic languages unvoice final consonants, so b is pronounced like a p at the end of a word.
Also: Thomas, Beauchamp, Cholmondeley, Featherstonehaugh, St John,...

Because every English name, especially if it is a place name, is pronounced perfectly in line with the phonetic rules of the modern language.

I wrote it in semi jest though every joke has some truth to it.
What you say might also be right but the past is exactly that If you cannot move on you will end up being a total ass wipe geezer with a few like minded idiots around you.
If I could give one name It would be that of Colin Parry who lost his Beautiful 12 year old son to an IRA Atrocity. He may always hate the IRA for what they did but wanted peace not war between the two sides he does not look at a Catholic and feel hate the man has balls bigger than many and God bless him.

The letter B is pronounced in the same way by most languages. (Although someone earlier correctly noted that B and V are often interchanged in several languages. But when it's B it's B, and when it's V it's V.)

No problem with them speaking a different language. The issue is that they choose to spell in a way that bears no resemblance to the pronunciation.

The key ingredient which is missing in all the names above is the diacritic mark ie Fada. The fada stresse the letters which it is over e.g. SiobhÁn
Different language to English...
